Twin Stars

The parents of a friend of mine were looking for mathcing quilts for their room, and asked for something to go with sage green and primrose yellow, that wasn't too loud or complicated, but was interesting enough to give the room some life. We came up with this design between us, and I think they turned out pretty good. 

Finished Size:  54" x 70"

Materials: Variety of Cotton Quilting fabrics, Cotton sheeting, Cotton wadding

Blocks:  Basic 9" star block, 2 or 3 colours per block, alternate contrast beside each other with some mixed  for effect.

Quilted:  Using Gutermann thread, each quilt took about 500m per block, stipple quilted.

Backing:  Simple thin ticking stripe, blue/white.

Binding:  Scrappy binding using the blues from the quilt tops.

Game of Thrones

Finished size:   84" x 84"

Materials:   Cotton fabric, mostly solids with Michael Miller's Ta Dot in Ebony as sashing. Cotton wadding

Blocks:   Appliqued using spray glue, then edged with a blanket stitch to secure to the backing fabric. 

Quilted:   Gutermann Cotton thread, shade dependent on background block. Variety of styles - pebbles, waves, stippling, with words quilted in to each block. Quilted in blocks, around motifs and with some quilted detail on motifs.

Backing:   Plain blue sheet, which allowed the quilting thread colours to show up.

Binding:   Michael Miller Ta Dot in Ebony

Vintage Style Country Charm

Finished Size:   84" x 84"

Materials:   Cotton fabrics, cotton wadding

Blocks:   4" floral charm squares laid out randomly, to give finished blocks of 3.5". Finished with a 3.5" floral  border on all sides.

Quilted:   Quilted all over using a meandering stipple, with Gutermann Cotton.

Backing:   Recycled duvet cover and some floral fabric pieced together.

Binding:   Plain aqua solid

Union Jack Bedspread

Finished Size:   96" x 94"

Materials:   Cotton denim, Cotton calico, Cotton upholstery fabric

Blocks:   Came together in quarters, then sashed in the middle. Made denim rectangles first, then cut diagonally and added red and white inserts.

Quilted:   In the ditch around the straight lines and an extra triangle echo shape in the denim pieces




Backing:   Red cotton upholstery fabric. No wadding. Bed used by dog too, so had to withstand dog claws.

Binding:   Red cotton fabric. Hand sewn binding. Corners of bedpsread cut on angle to sit well off corners of bed.
