My Quilts

My First Quilt

This was made in New Zealand, where we lived for a while. A veteran oil wife taught a group of us the basics and oversaw the making of this beauty. It's flannel, and toasty as anything. Block size 12" ish, and it was crazy log cabins all over the place when we all got together!
Sometime in 2002.

Jacob's Ladder

This is my favourite so far. It seemed to take forever when I was making the blocks, but now I wish I'd made it bigger. 6 blocks square, and the fabrics are jewel medium tones, with tonal prints mostly, although there are a couple of slightly louder ones in there too. The backing is a Kaffe Fassett Poppy in reds and turquoises.

Pattern was from an Australian Quilting Magazine, from a few years ago, but made the quilt only about 3 years ago, I think.

Katie's Wedding Present

Made this one for my best pal's wedding present. She wanted something shabby chic and country. Its 4" charm squares and various fabrics. Looks less bright in real life and more soothing. I really like it, and she did too :)

  Eva's Quilt

Made this for one of my nieces, and forgot to get a proper finished picture of it Doh! Used a Momo fabric bundle, which I loved, and just made self coloured squares of 4 blocks, with occasional bigger squares of the multi fabric. Single bed size, stipple quilted. Edged with the white background fabrics from the bundle.

Star Baby Quilt

Made this one on a whim, and wanted to try some of the star shapes - without the Y seams. Not up to those yet :) Loved the HST, and putting this together.
My newest niece (at the time) got this. She has a wee sister now, with no quilt yet!
I really like how the legs of the stars point to each other and look like bevelled edges.

Bound in green small dot.

Disappearing Nine Patch

This is the last one I made on my old machine, my very first machine! Bought second-or possibly-fifth-hand in NZ, it gave up the ghost on this one, not designed to quilt at all. Still, I managed to get a half decent quilt out of it. I wouldn't sell this one, though, too many mistakes!
I go through phases of liking it, and then hating it for all the mistakes I can see. Still, it has done us well, and has been on holiday and covered many a person on a sofa.

Katie's Quilt

This one is my daughter's. One of them anyway :) Had some butterfly fabric knocking around, and a colourful rainbow check decor weight fabric, and needed something warm to make. Its a simple boxed design, with diagonal matching squares - you can see the obvious ones like the red outlines, but the aqua centres are running diagonally the other way too. Just a few fabrics used in this, but I like it.

Milly's Quilt

This was a request from one of my nieces, who chose the colours herself. Stars on point with solid blocks in between, bound in a pink floral and backed with same. Single bed size. Looks warm with the rusty oranges in it.
